“When I was a kid, we used to watch Tom and Jerry together even up until I was a teenager. I loved that we could go play squash, badminton or football together or stay in and watch sports together. Moreover, I love when we talk about politics and I feel heard while I learn at the same time. I watched him be a man and take care of his responsibilities while being there for our family. He has showed me how to be a man.”
Mr. Mfreke Effiong.
“Dad is one of the most brilliant people I know, just the other day realized he was once young. It’s funny when you have a tiny human looking up to you, you can pick the specific characteristics you both share. Every year as I get older, I see the tendencies we share. I can’t summarize who my dad is in a few sentences because he’s indefinable, he is funny yet very serious, he is my friend yet a really harsh disciplinarian, he tries his best not to show weakness but he has a big beautiful heart. He has taught me the value of patience, consistency, leaving it up to God and hard work.”
Ms. Joy Mwangi.
To his son, he’s a role model, to his daughter he is a hero. Our dads make such a huge difference in our lives. They are our protectors, our providers, role models, our friends and so much more. They deserve to be appreciated and celebrated every day for the sacrifices they make to make our lives better. They are also our disciplinarians making sure that we grow up with the right values and beliefs.
They come home everyday and put a smile on for us despite whatever challenges they go through. They show us love in their own unique ways and there is just something about spending quality time with them. They go out there and make things happen. Through our mothers, they show us what true love is supposed to look like and that is so beautiful. As we celebrate them this Fathers’ Day, let us remember how important they continue to be in our lives.
